Turn Your Passion Into Great Strength

Turn Your Passion Into Great Strength

Each of us has unique passions that drive us, whether it’s an appreciation for music, a skill in a particular sport, a love of gaming, an appreciation for art, etc. Although not every interest can be turned into a lucrative business, having a strong passion for something can be a trump card in times of crisis. So, let’s dive into some details about how to turn your passion into a great strength.

Identifying your passions

Although many people have a burning desire to do something, not everyone can pinpoint what it is that they enjoy doing the most. If that’s so, let’s start with identifying what your passions truly are. Your passions are the things you want to keep doing the most. It could be knitting, listening to your favorite genre of music, reading your favorite book over and over again, watching your favorite sitcoms to relieve your stress, and the list goes on.

Here’s a question for you. If paying bills and money weren’t the issue, what would you like to do constantly to keep yourself happy? Then you’ll find what your passions are along with your answers. List them and keep doing them to filter out your true passion.

“Passion” vs “Strength”

It is true that your passion and your strengths are not the same things. And they do not always correspond with one another. You might be strong at marketing, but your passions are to travel and explore. Sometimes, though, they do come head to head, and that’s when your character really shines. For instance, singing is your passion and your beautiful voice is your strength.

Not all of your passions can turn into profits, and your strengths might not be the things you enjoy the most. However, if you know how to put your passions to good use, they can become a source of strength in your life.

Use your passions as strengths

Using your passions as strengths isn’t an easy task but you should remember the saying “If you love what you do, you will never work a day in your life”. Let’s say being an accountant may be your “day job,” but if writing is your passion, you can still write and publish a book in your spare time. The important thing is to make time for your passion like an hour a day or three hours on weekends. This passion of yours has the potential to become a pillar of strength as you set out to make positive changes in your life.

Or you could carry your passions into your career life and make them your strengths. If you love traveling, plan a trip with your co-workers and explore the world together. It could be a great team-building moment. If you love singing, plan a karaoke night and have a blast with your friends or your co–workers. If you like listening to music, enjoy your music while working to boost your productivity! Find out what other people are passionate about at your job and inspire them to do that together with you also.

Even if your passions do not translate into huge profits, you can always try to make a positive difference with it. What matters is you. There’s a saying by Mahatma Gandhi that “Be the change you wish to see in the world” so you are the only one who can turn your passion into a great strength by changing your perspective even if the stars don’t align and the sun doesn’t shine for you.
